In the heart of the Pacific Northwest at Terra Nova Rural Park, our programs for children under 36 months invite families to explore, connect, and grow together in nature’s embrace. Little ones and their caregivers wander through beautiful parkland and gardens, singing songs, listening to gentle poems, and engaging in playful interactions that spark wonder, curiosity, and meaningful connection—each class thoughtfully guided by an experienced Early Childhood Educator.

PRESCHOOL

Throughout the seasons and no whatever the weather, students (3-5 years) of Terra Nova Nature School spend a significant amount of time outdoors. Children explore the natural landscape and its inhabitants for a learning experience that will always be dynamic, emergent and innovative!

Facilitated by Early Childhood Educators, our play-based programs support learning in all areas of child development. Terra Nova Nature School is inspired by the Forest Kindergartens of Europe and the schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy.

Beyond 4 Walls – School Age Programs

Full Day Programs

All of our school-age programs run under Beyond 4 Walls (B4W), where children and youth connect with nature through hands-on, inquiry-based outdoor learning. Our full-day Trailblazers program further deepens students’ connection to the natural world through immersive outdoor curriculum, with funding from recognized Home Learner programs accepted.

After School Programs

Participants gather firsthand outdoor survival strategies and practical skills through games, exploration, and outdoor cooking, with every jam-packed session including a nutritious snack. Younger groups are mentored for part of their classes by our Leaders-in-Training (LIT), who focus on environmental stewardship, ecological literacy, and developing leadership skills as big buddies and role models, earning a certificate upon completion.
