Beyond 4 Walls – After School Program



Children engage in a wide variety of activities that connect them with one another and with the natural world. Through play, stories, and music, they explore and learn about the world around them. Nature awareness games encourage self-regulation, stillness, and careful observation.

Creative art activities support children’s imagination as they use a wide variety of natural and craft materials to express their ideas. Big movement, tree climbing, and ditch jumping foster physical development, confidence, and self-awareness. As children explore, experiment, and play, they build confidence and a deeper connection to themselves, each other, and the land.

The Leaders-in-Training class (ages 13–17) mentors the 5–7s every other class, creating meaningful opportunities for both groups to work together while developing compassion, leadership, and thoughtfulness.

Wonder and Questions at the Sharing Farm Cob Oven

The B4W class visited the Sharing Farm, located on the south side of the park. The children were especially curious about the cob oven, filling the afternoon with wonder and questions. How does the pizza get hot? Where is the fire? Won’t the oven burn? And of course, when will we get to eat pizza? Their curiosity sparked a lively, thoughtful exploration together.
