Preschool

Eagles (9:00 am – 1:00 pm)

Our licensed preschool program offers a warm, enriching experience for children ages 3–5. Children must be three years old by December 31, 2026. Our Early Childhood Educators support each child with care, compassion, and joy. We place great value on building meaningful relationships with both children and their families, knowing that healthy, positive connections form the foundation for all learning.

Our Eagles spend about half of their day outdoors in all kinds of weather, developing a deep relationship with the natural world and the place around them. The other half of the day is spent inside our cozy Edwardian cottage, where children enjoy a variety of engaging activities that support their growth and development in all areas.

We honour the natural rhythms of the day and value slowing down to fully enjoy the moments that unfold before us. At the same time, we recognize that children thrive with predictable routines and clear boundaries, so we generally follow the schedule below.

Fishing for Answers

One morning, the children gathered on the rocks, gazing at the Fraser River, sticks in hand, pretending to fish.

Am: “Look! A rainbow fish!”
Th: “No, that’s a stick.”
Ja: “It’s a yellow fish!”
Fi: “I have a grass-fish!”
Fe: “Look, I got a stick-fish!”
Ko: “We’re gonna rescue them!”
Am: “No, we have to release them!”
Ja: “You can only eat fish from a big sea.  This isn’t a big sea.”
Ko: “Look! A crocodile!”
Th: “How about we catch it?”
Ko: “Maybe we can make crocodile soup.”
Th: Haha! “That sounds silly — crocodiles are not for eating.”
Fe: “Nooo, we can. We can eat crocodiles!
Ja: “I have more stick-fish!”
Am: “Bring it up!”

By the end of the morning, we had a whole bounty of stick-fish and a playful conversation about traditions, favorite foods, and family stories. The children’s curiosity guided the day, as they shared their experiences, listened to one another, and noticed both similarities and differences in their families.

Leaf

“Children need the freedom to appreciate the infinite resources of their hands, their eyes and their ears, the resources of forms, materials, sounds and colours”.
